About Me
My name is Joel Wright. I've lived in Champaign-Urbana with my fiancee for a little over two years. While living here, I have worked as a paraprofessional for Champaign Public Schools. I spent most of my time working with middle school students with intellectual and learning disabilities, although I would also work with students with emotional and behavior disorders and students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). During the summer, I worked with preschool-age students. These students were mostly students with intellectual and learning disabilities, although I also worked with students with severe physical disabilities and students with ASD.
Currently, I am pursuing my Master's Degree in Special Education at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and I plan to receive my teaching certificate as a Learning and Behavior Specialist. My primary interests in special education are working with students with learning disabilities, cognitive impairments, and other high-incidence disabilities.
My other interests include philosophy and the philosophy of language. I also enjoy traveling, reading, and watching college football.
